Claire Fontijn Claire Fontijn is Associate Professor and Chair of the Music Department at Wellesley College, where she teaches courses on early music history, women in music, and vocal repertory. She holds a B.A. from Oberlin College, a certificate in Baroque flute performance from the Royal Conservatory of the Hague, the Netherlands, and an M.A. in Performance Practice and a Ph.D. in Musicology from Duke University. Her research on Antonia Bembo been supported by the American Musicological Society, the Woodrow Wilson National Fellowship Foundation, the French Government and the Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation for Research in Venice. Professor Fontijn’s book Desperate Measures: The Life and Music of Antonia Padoani Bembo will be available wilth CD included in October, 2006.
