With Volume I of The Seven Psalms of David, La Donna Musicale presents a glimpse into the fascinating realm of the music of Antonia Bembo, Jacquet de la Guerre, and the early music of women composers. The magnificent creativity of two women, composer Antonia Bembo and writer Elisabeth Chéron, came together in Les sept Pseaumes de David. This recording presents four of these psalms along with a sonata by Bembo’s contemporary, Elisabeth Jacquet de la Guerre.
